Oral Care

From hair care to your smile. Still with the Milva signature.

Oral care is one of our newest product ranges. We have expanded beyond the familiar world of hair and body care to include toothpastes and mouthwashes. We brought to them what we know best — our own fresh, concentrated herbal extracts.

During development, we combined our experience with herbs with the expertise of a technologist who led toothpaste production at the Bulgarian company Aroma for more than 30 years. Where we did not yet have years of practical experience ourselves, we brought in an experienced specialist. She helped us with both the formulations and the production technology. The final products took two and a half years to develop — years of dedicated work, testing and refining every detail.

In this range, too, you will recognise Milva by the high proportion of our quality herbal extracts. Ginger, chamomile, mint and sumac each have their place in the individual formulations. We will never forget what our consultant said when development was complete: “I have never made a better toothpaste in my life. I have never had such high-quality ingredients and such a budget at my disposal.”

We are particularly proud of our clay toothpaste with Bulgarian kaolin, which is used in the formulation to mechanically clean the surface of the teeth. For that pleasant feeling of cleanliness, smooth teeth and a fresh smile.

We are delighted that Milva can be part of your daily care routine from your hair to your smile.

Daily care

For a smile you feel good about

A healthy smile starts with consistent habits. Brush your teeth twice a day for approximately two minutes, in the morning and at night before bed. Use a soft toothbrush and brush gently, without unnecessary pressure. Pay attention to the outer, inner and chewing surfaces of your teeth and the gumline.

Milva oral care products combine daily cleaning with our own herbal extracts. Choose your toothpaste and, if needed, mouthwash according to your needs, the ingredients and the recommendations for the specific product.

The foundations of a good routine

Gently, thoroughly and between your teeth too

A soft toothbrush

Choose a toothbrush that lets you comfortably reach all your teeth. Pressing harder will not improve cleaning results. Thoroughness, a gentle technique and consistency matter more.

Cleaning between teeth

Once a day, also clean between your teeth with a suitable interdental brush or floss. A dental hygienist or dentist can help you choose the right size and technique.

Protection against tooth decay

Fluoride in toothpaste helps strengthen enamel and reduce the risk of tooth decay. Toothpastes containing approximately 1,350 to 1,500 ppm fluoride are commonly recommended for adults. Check the packaging for the specific amount.

Regular check-ups

Complement your home care with preventive check-ups and professional dental cleaning as recommended by your dental professional. Pain, recurring inflammation or persistent bleeding gums require the cause to be identified.

Additional care

Why add a mouthwash?

Mouthwash can complement your routine and provide a pleasant feeling of freshness. Its other effects depend on the ingredients: some products are primarily intended to freshen breath, while others contain ingredients that help limit plaque or support protection against tooth decay.

Mouthwash is not essential for everyone and does not replace brushing or cleaning between your teeth. If your mouth is sensitive or alcohol-containing mouthwashes feel uncomfortable, an alcohol-free formula may be a more pleasant choice.

Correct use

How should you use mouthwash?

Read the instructions

Follow the amount, frequency and rinsing time stated on the packaging. Only dilute a product if the manufacturer expressly recommends doing so.

Choose the right time

Do not rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash immediately after brushing with fluoride toothpaste. You can use mouthwash at another time, for example after lunch. With chlorhexidine products, also observe the interval between using toothpaste and mouthwash stated in the instructions.

Rinse and spit out

Spit out the mouthwash after the recommended time. Do not swallow it or use a larger amount in an attempt to increase its effect.

Follow the instructions after use

Follow the instructions for the specific product. After using a fluoride mouthwash, do not eat or drink for at least 30 minutes.

What to watch out for

Care should feel pleasant and gentle

Irritation and allergies

If you have a known allergy, check the ingredients. Herbal extracts and flavourings can also cause sensitivity reactions. Stop using the product if you experience burning, irritation or any other unwanted reaction.

Use in children

Follow the age guidance on the packaging and supervise correct use. Mouthwash is not suitable for a child who cannot reliably spit it out; it is generally not recommended for children under 6 unless directed by a dentist. Keep products out of the reach of young children.

Persistent problems

Consult a dentist about bleeding, recurring inflammation, pain or persistent bad breath. Masking symptoms with mouthwash will not remove their cause.

Chlorhexidine

Follow the recommended duration of use. Chlorhexidine can cause staining of the teeth or tongue, changes in taste or irritation. If you plan to use it long term, consult a dentist even if the concentration is low.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Milva toothpastes and mouthwashes

Which Milva toothpaste should I choose for sensitive gums?

You can consider any of our toothpastes for daily brushing, including if you have sensitive gums, provided the ingredients and taste suit you. Individual tolerance varies, however. Brush with a soft toothbrush without applying pressure. If your gums bleed or hurt, have a dental examination as well as choosing a toothpaste. Sensitive gums and sensitive teeth can have different causes.

Do I need to use mouthwash too?

No. Thorough brushing and cleaning between your teeth are the foundation. You can add a mouthwash according to your preferences or your dentist's recommendation. If you prefer alcohol-free care, you can choose our herbal mouthwash with chamomile. With frequent inflammation, it is important to identify the cause first.

Why does one mouthwash contain alcohol and another does not?

They have different formulations. Alcohol in mouthwash can act as a solvent for certain ingredients and influence its taste or the sensation during use. Its presence alone does not mean better disinfection. An alcohol-free mouthwash may feel more pleasant if your mouth is sensitive, dry or prone to burning. What matters is the overall formulation and your tolerance.

Which mouthwash should I choose before driving?

If you want to avoid residual alcohol in your mouth before driving, choose an alcohol-free mouthwash. An alcohol-containing mouthwash can affect a breath alcohol reading immediately after use. Do not swallow any mouthwash.

Why do the toothpastes contain inulin?

Inulin is an ingredient known for its prebiotic potential. We include it in our formulations with the aim of supporting a balanced environment in the mouth. However, the effect of a specific toothpaste on the oral microbiome depends on the entire formulation; the presence of inulin alone does not guarantee an increase in beneficial bacteria. It does not replace cleaning or the protective role of fluoride.

Can children use Milva toothpastes?

According to the intended use of this range, our toothpastes are suitable for children aged 6 and over; always check the packaging of the specific product. Children should spit out the toothpaste after brushing and not swallow it. The presence of fluoride alone does not mean that fluoride toothpastes are generally unsuitable for younger children — for them, choose an age-appropriate product and amount as recommended by a dentist.

Why do the toothpastes contain fluoride?

Fluoride helps restore minerals in enamel and increase its resistance to acids, reducing the risk of tooth decay. It is a well-established part of everyday prevention. The exact fluoride content is stated on the packaging of each toothpaste. If your dentist has advised you to limit its use or you have a confirmed sensitivity to any ingredient in the product, follow their advice.

What do your toothpastes and mouthwashes taste like?

The mint version has a stronger, fresh mint flavour. The other variants have milder, less pronounced flavours. The chlorhexidine mouthwash has a slightly sweet flavour that may remind you of candy floss or sweet chewing gum from childhood. Taste perception is individual.

Is Milva mouthwash with chlorhexidine suitable for daily use?

Milva Professional Oral Care contains 0.05% chlorhexidine and is presented as a mouthwash for daily hygiene. Use it according to the instructions on the packaging. However, daily frequency does not automatically mean unlimited long-term use. If you use it for a longer period, consult a dentist, especially if you have persistent problems or develop tooth staining or changes in taste. There is no single five-day limit that applies to all chlorhexidine mouthwashes sold in pharmacies — it depends on the product and its intended use.

Can I use mouthwash immediately after brushing my teeth?

After using fluoride toothpaste, it is best to spit out the excess and not rinse your mouth immediately, so that the fluoride remains on your teeth. Use mouthwash at another time instead. With chlorhexidine mouthwashes, check the recommended interval after brushing, as some toothpaste ingredients may reduce their effectiveness.
