Questions you ask us most often
Our answers about our products, how to use them, their ingredients, how to combine them, and hair and scalp care.
About the Milva brand
Why was the Milva brand created?
Milva began as a laboratory producing hair tonics, shampoos, soaps and ointments from herbal extracts, prepared individually according to prescriptions from doctors, dermatologists and pharmacies.
Over time, this model was no longer used, but Milva retained its manufacturing know-how and professional experience. This knowledge was gradually transformed into haircare products designed to help maintain the scalp and hair in good condition.
What makes Milva different from ordinary haircare brands?
Milva differs in its formulation philosophy. Conventional shampoos often contain a large number of active, moisturising and conditioning ingredients in low concentrations.
Milva uses one or two main active ingredients in higher concentrations and simpler formulations without unnecessary additives. A shampoo should primarily cleanse the scalp, while hydration and nourishment belong mainly in masks and conditioners.
Is Milva suitable for everyone?
Milva is suitable for healthy people from the age of 6. The brand also has a separate children's range.
It is not suitable in cases of a known allergy to a specific ingredient, during certain dermatological treatments or in the presence of acute health restrictions. If you are unsure, we recommend consulting a doctor or dermatologist before choosing a product.
How would you explain the Milva brand to a friend?
Milva represents functional, regular haircare that combines laboratory tradition, simpler formulations and targeted active ingredients.
Hair loss and scalp condition
Why is one shampoo often not enough for hair loss?
Hair needs are complex and can change over time. One shampoo may therefore not cover all the needs of the scalp, roots and lengths.
During periods of active hair loss, a quinine shampoo can be added to the routine. Once the condition stabilises, you can move on, for example, to a combination of quinine and magnesium. Haircare is a longer-term process that should be adapted to the current condition of the hair.
What is the difference between shedding, breakage and seasonal hair loss?
With breakage, the hair fibre is damaged and the whole hair does not fall out from the root. It often occurs due to brushing, friction, heat styling or mechanical damage.
Seasonal hair loss may occur mainly in spring and autumn. Chronic hair loss is characterised by a longer-term decrease in density and requires greater attention.
How quickly can I expect to see the first results?
You may notice the first changes after several weeks of regular care. More stable results are usually assessed only after a longer period, approximately two to three months.
Do not monitor only the amount of hair being shed. Also pay attention to the condition of the scalp, hair strength, breakage and overall density.
What should I do if my hair seems to shed more at the beginning?
Observe whether itching, redness, burning, swelling or another sign of intolerance to the product appears at the same time.
If hair loss suddenly or significantly increases, or if other unusual symptoms appear, stop using the product and consult a doctor or dermatologist.
Ingredients and active substances
Why does Milva use quinine, caffeine and herbs?
Milva works with active ingredients that have been used in haircare for a long time. These include quinine, caffeine, herbal extracts, propolis, sulphur, pine tar and white clay.
The exact formulation always depends on the purpose of the product and the needs of the hair or scalp.
Are Milva products natural?
Milva products contain a high proportion of ingredients of natural origin. In selected products, this proportion may reach up to 94.5%.
The brand also works with its own herbal extracts and ingredients such as white clay, which is used in cleansing scalp care.
Do Milva products contain silicones or parabens?
Milva products do not contain silicones or parabens. Some products may contain SLS, so we recommend always checking the ingredient list of the specific product according to the needs of your scalp.
Using Milva products
How should I combine shampoo, hair tonic, mask and conditioner?
Shampoo should be applied mainly to the roots and used according to the needs of the scalp. During the second wash, you may leave it on briefly according to the instructions for the specific product.
Hair tonic is applied directly to the roots and is usually not rinsed out. Use conditioner after washing on the lengths and ends. Use a mask approximately once a week or according to the condition of your hair.
Is Milva suitable for a sensitive scalp?
Many products may also be suitable for a more sensitive scalp, but the reaction is individual. Choose products according to the current condition of your scalp and introduce more active ingredients gradually.
If you have a known allergy, inflammation or are undergoing dermatological treatment, consult a specialist before choosing a product.
Can I use Milva products long term?
Milva products are intended for regular and long-term care. However, always follow the instructions for the specific product and monitor how your hair and scalp respond.
Can I alternate different Milva shampoos?
Yes. You can alternate different shampoos according to the current needs of your hair and scalp.
For example, during a period of increased hair loss you may use a shampoo aimed at this concern and later adjust your routine according to the current condition of your hair. There is no need to use the same product indefinitely if your hair's needs change.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, combining products and treatment
Can I use Milva products during pregnancy?
Suitability during pregnancy depends on the specific product and its ingredients. It is therefore not appropriate to automatically consider every Milva product suitable for every pregnant woman.
If you are pregnant, we recommend checking the ingredients of the specific product and consulting your doctor, gynaecologist or pharmacist when using products containing active ingredients.
Can I use Milva products while breastfeeding?
During breastfeeding, suitability also depends on the specific product and its ingredients. With haircare products, it is important to follow the directions for use and prevent the baby from coming into direct contact with the applied product.
Do not apply products to the breasts or areas that may come into direct contact with the baby. If you are unsure whether a particular product is suitable during breastfeeding, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Can I combine Milva products with products from other brands?
Yes. A haircare routine does not have to consist exclusively of products from one brand. Milva products can also be combined with haircare products from other manufacturers.
It is important to consider the entire routine and avoid unnecessarily layering a large number of products with similar effects or several active ingredients. If you use several products directly on the scalp, we recommend introducing new products gradually.
Can I combine several Milva products at the same time?
Yes. Milva products can be combined to create a haircare routine according to the current needs of your hair and scalp.
For example, you can use a shampoo, hair tonic, conditioner and mask. However, it is not necessary to use all active products at the same time. If your scalp is sensitive or you are introducing a new routine, we recommend adding products one at a time.
Can I combine quinine, caffeine, ginseng and other active ingredients?
Different active ingredients can be included in the same haircare routine, but there is no need to use all of them at once. We recommend building your routine around your main concern and the current condition of your hair and scalp.
If you use several active products, introduce them gradually. This makes it easier to observe how your scalp and hair react to each product.
If irritation, pronounced burning, itching, redness or any other unusual reaction occurs, stop using the product.
Can I use Milva together with a medicated shampoo or a product prescribed by a dermatologist?
If you use a medicated shampoo, solution or another product recommended or prescribed by a dermatologist, always follow your doctor's instructions and the directions for that specific medicinal product.
Milva should not automatically be added to a treatment routine regardless of the type of treatment. If you want to combine or alternate products, discuss the appropriate timing and method of use with your dermatologist or pharmacist.
Prescribed treatment always takes priority over cosmetic care.
Can I use Milva products during dermatological treatment?
This depends on the specific health condition, the state of the scalp and the type of treatment. During dermatological treatment, the scalp may be more sensitive and not all cosmetic products may be suitable at that time.
If you are undergoing dermatological treatment, we recommend consulting a dermatologist or pharmacist before adding other active products.
Milva cosmetic products do not replace professional diagnosis or prescribed treatment.
Can I use Milva products after finishing treatment?
After treatment has ended, haircare products can generally be reintroduced gradually, but the current condition of the scalp and the nature of the previous treatment are important.
If the scalp is still very sensitive, irritated, red or damaged, we recommend waiting before using more active products and consulting a specialist about the next steps.
After a longer break, it is advisable to reintroduce products gradually and monitor the scalp's response.
Can I use Milva during or after chemotherapy?
During cancer treatment, the scalp may become significantly more sensitive and the condition of the hair may also change. We therefore recommend discussing your choice of cosmetic care with your treating doctor or oncology team.
After treatment, the scalp and newly growing hair may remain more sensitive for some time. Introduce care gradually and favour a gentle approach.
If the scalp is irritated, injured or very sensitive, do not use more active products without consulting a healthcare professional.
Can I use Milva products while taking medication?
With ordinary cosmetic care, taking medication does not automatically mean that haircare products cannot be used. However, suitability depends on the specific medication, health condition and product.
If you take medication that affects the skin, hair or hormonal system, or is part of specialist treatment, we recommend consulting your doctor or pharmacist regarding the suitability of the specific product.
Can I use Milva on a very sensitive or irritated scalp?
For a sensitive scalp, we recommend choosing products according to its current condition and introducing new products gradually.
Do not introduce new active products to a significantly irritated, injured, weeping or inflamed scalp without consulting a specialist.
If pronounced burning, swelling, redness, itching or another unusual reaction occurs during use, discontinue the product.
Can I use Milva products after colouring or chemically treating my hair?
Yes, but adapt your choice to the current condition of your hair and scalp. After colouring, bleaching, perming or another chemical treatment, both the hair and scalp may temporarily be more sensitive.
If the scalp is irritated or sensitive immediately after the procedure, wait until it has calmed down before using more active products. A conditioner or mask can be added to the lengths according to the current needs of the hair.
Results and expectations
When might Milva not meet expectations?
Haircare is a gradual process. Milva may not suit people who expect a dramatic result after one wash or irregular use.
The products are also not suitable in the case of a known allergy to a particular ingredient. Cosmetics do not replace professional diagnosis or treatment of a medical condition.
What is the best way to monitor results?
Use your chosen routine consistently and avoid changing products too often. Take photographs of your hair approximately once a month in the same lighting and from the same angle.
Assess not only the length, but also density, breakage, ease of detangling, the appearance of the lengths and the condition of the scalp.
When should I see a specialist?
See a doctor or dermatologist if you experience sudden or significant hair loss, bald patches, pain, inflammation, severe itching, weeping or other unusual changes to the scalp.
